Review: I take very good care of my car and have the routine maintenance done in Rockville. Yesterday, during a 400mile roundtrip to NYC, the front left started making noise and this morning was grinding when in reverse. I was afraid to take it to Rockville, unsure it was safe. So this morning/Saturday, I called 4-5 different auto shops in Alexandria, explained the situation and asked if they could take a look at it. All four were going to charge me for a diagnostic ($100-$185), 3 couldn’t see me until Monday. When I arrived at Ben Nielson’s and explained I just called, Pat said he didn’t have any calls, we hadn’t spoken.Somehow, I went to a shop I didn’t call and what a lucky mistake! I explained the noise and Pat said they’d take a look at it. Almost immediately, he calls me and explains the problem- the bolts weren’t tightened down on my last break service. One bolt was completely missing and the other loose. He tightened the loose bolt and made it safe enough to drive back to Rockville so the shop can fix it and keep the maintenance all on one record there. He showed me pictures and gave me clear instructions of what to tell the shop so they can order the part ahead of time and to ensure that I understood what happened.Pat also inspected and filled a tire that was low on air and sprayed it off.I was so confused when I arrived at the shop and it wasn’t one that I had called. I have no idea how it happened but I’m very grateful because I received world class customer service, my car is safe enough/quiet until tomorrow when it gets corrected, and it didn’t cost me a thing.In fact, I tried to give him a few dollars cash just to show my appreciation for fitting me in to the line up of work they had (the parking lot was full and busy when I arrived) and getting back to me so quickly but he wouldn’t take it—said it wasn’t a big thing at all/no trouble. I’m scheduled in Rockville first thing tomorrow morning and feeling incredibly lucky and grateful.Huge thank you to Pat and Ben Nielson’s shop and of course, the mystery/mistake that lead me to such an efficient, cost effective solution & quality service. The noise was very scary and I had no idea what to expect. I’m so glad to know there’s a shop/mechanics like this in such close proximity to where I live.Anne2004 Pontiac Vibe217k miles now and aiming for 300k+ 🤞💪😅

Review: Finally. A car maintenance experience that is free from the misogyny, condescension, carelessness and disregard for me and my time I had sadly come to expect and anticipate. This was completely different, from the beginning. A friendly, considerate, humane and community driven experience. Honest, transparent, thoughtful, and skilled. I’ve now been here three times, and have appreciated all of my interactions with Pat, and others. I’ve also been able to casually observe his interactions with others during my brief wait times – customers, community members, colleagues – which have all reaffirmed my impression that this is a wonderful place to engage with. Finally, I don’t have to dread regular car maintenance appointments. Thank you!

Review: The Nielsen crew really takes care of their customers. They fixed a rack and pinion problem that lead to an extreme power steering fluid leak that 3 other repair shops had not been able to pinpoint. It took one trip to Ben Nielsen’s to correct the issue. The staff is also so friendly and explains things in a way you can understand. 15/10 would recommend to anyone.

Review: Great experience with these great mechanics. I came in with no appointment and my busted radio mount assembly. They fixed it spot on and my radio is actually sounding better than ever. It is nice to know that there are places that still exist that help the working man. In addition, they gave me a $50.00 coupon that really helped me out. I highly recommend these guys, top notch service, high technical aptitude and great overall experience. Keep up the great work!

Review: At the shop it was fine. However, I recently moved here and needed an oil change. I got a coupon and made an appointment. When I checked out and paid for my oil change, your employee informed me that there had to be $2,000 of repairs before I can pass codes to get my VA. I knew it was steep.m and I knew he was lying to me right to my face. I did my research and it’s going to cost me $450 dollars to fix my issues. I will never come back to your business. You guys tried to play me and lost a new, life long customer. You will never see me or any other of my cars. Plus I will tell people you have no ethics and will try and rob a customer point blank. Good luck scamming other folks. You have multiple locations, so you must be scamming people all the time.
